Sharon Tate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Jun. 26, 2024.
Sharon Ann Tate, referred to as Nana by her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2024. Sharon was born on February 17,1944 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to C.J. and Dorothy Jean Cookson. She was the 3rd of 4 children and attended Ponca City High School and was a proud alum of the Wildcats. She spent her summers as a lifeguard at the famous Wence Pool in Ponca City. A job that she was so very proud of.
Sharon married Robert Leroy Tate (Bob) 1962. After several moves for Bob's career with OTASCO, they landed in Bartlesville in 1978 to raise their 5 children. Chris, Chuck, Curtiss, Craig and Keely. On summer nights through the early 80's, she was keeping up with 4 boys' practices and games at Price Field Complex. For the next 30 years, you could catch her at some sort of sporting event that either her kids or grandkids were playing in, to this day we still don't know how she somehow made it to everything that the kids were involved in.
Sharon was an avid water skier and taught all her kids to ski at their favorite cabin on Sunset Lake. While her kids looked like Shrek when they skied, she had so much grace and beauty on a Slalom ski and was always known as the best skier in the family. She loved the lake. She and her brothers were especially close to their cousins and loved reminiscing about the memories with them each year at the reunions.
Sharon also loved to attend garage sales with her neighborhood friends, seeking out antique furniture. She took pride in restoring antiques and bringing them back to life. She also loved animals and always welcomed any strays that the kids brought home, quickly making them a part of the family. 5 kids and multiple animals, we don't know how she did it!
As the kids got older and time started to free up, she put her same passion that she had for her family into becoming a Realtor. In 1986, she got her first real estate job at Mcanaw and Wright. And she was off! Quickly became a rising star in the real estate community, continuing her passion serving the community with several local agencies until retiring in 2013. Her slogan was "Stands Above the Crowd" as a play on her stunning height, and boy did she! She won many prestigious awards throughout her career, but she was most proud of being "Mom of the year" for 61 YEARS!
Sharon Tate is preceded in death by her Husband, Bob Tate, Parents CJ and Dorothy Cookson, Son, Chuck Tate, Daughter Keely Tate, Brothers Sonny Cookson and Donny Cookson, and her Great Grandson, Jagger Jordan.
Sharon Tate is survived by her children Chris Tate of Bartlesville, Daughter-In-Law Jennifer Tate of Bartlesville Ok, Curtiss and Jamie Tate of Grove Ok, Craig and Christina Tate of Bartlesville, Brother Scotty Cookson of Tahlequah Ok.
Grandchildren Carlee and Drew Williams of Bartlesville, Clay and Jennifer Tate of Bartlesville, Lexi and Ben Jordan of Owasso Ok, Mitch and Te'Angela Tate of Bartlesville, Victoria Tate of Bartlesville Ok, Cody Tate of Bartlesville Ok. Seth and Kalie Tate of Lake Charles LA, Sam Tate of Grove Ok, Tucker Tate of Grove Ok, Elyssia Tate of Tulsa Ok, Sade Marshal of Tulsa OK, 16 Great Grandchildren. She was so proud of her family and loved each of them very dearly.
Celebration of life for Sharon Ann Tate will Friday June 28, 2024, at 2:00pm, First Wesleyan Church, Bartlesville Ok. Burial Service followed at White Rose Cemetery.
