Sharon Tompkins, 84, of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Accura Healthcare of Muscatine.
Sharon was born April 1, 1941, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Paul and Irene Purkapile Mitchell. She married Gary Lee Tompkins on October 27, 1966. They later divorced in December 1978.
Sharon spent many of her working years at Tom Hoopes Farm and helping out at other farms in the area. In her later years, she was a nanny and housekeeper prior to retirement. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Eric Tompkins and Bridgette Tompkins, both of Muscatine; grandchildren, Brianna Granier and Kyler Tompkins of Muscatine, Emily Tompkins of Amboy, IL and Kaitlin Tompkins of Prattsville, AR; great grandchildren, Gage Shouse, Maria Macias-Tompkins, and Zerenity Macias-Tompkins, all of Muscatine; and sisters, Diane Mitchell of Thayer, MO, and June Wieneke of Champaign, IL.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kevin Lee Tompkins and Scott Morris Tompkins; and two sisters, Joanne Jessie and Pamela Murray.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Nichols Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services is caring for Sharon's family and arrangements.
