Raymond Edward Anson, Jr., 85, of Muscatine, left us peacefully following a brief illness, with his son and daughter-in-law by his side.
Raymond was born Thursday, August 24, 1939, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Raymond Edward, Sr. and Helen Arlee Brown Anson. He married Judy A. Havel on Saturday, July 6, 1963, in Rock Island, Illinois. She passed away in 2020.
Raymond and Judy had two children, Theresa Foster and Bryan Anson. Theresa left us in 2017. She had two daughters and two sons; Jamie, Cassie, Joey and Harley (deceased).
Raymond was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He served in Germany from 1956 to 1959.
He had worked at R.J. Dick Company and retired from Union Tank Car Co.
Raymond loved his family. He worked hard and had lots of fun in his life. He enjoyed agate and mushroom hunting. He was an animal lover and had many dogs and cats through the years. He fed the birds, squirrels, racoons and ground hogs daily. And enjoyed going to the casinos; and getting out to the stores every day.
Those left to honor and cherish Raymond's memory include his son, Bryan (Luanne) Anson of Muscatine, IA; two granddaughters, Destiny Ann Anson and Abigail Rae Anson; sister, Judy (William) Welty of Venice FL; brother, Douglas (Kathy) Anson of Taylor Ridge, IL and sister-in-law, Sandy Anson of Des Moines, IA; seven nieces and seven nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; daughter, Theresa Foster; and brother, Gregory Scott Anson.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside Military Honors will be held at 10:00 AM Friday April 18, 2025, at Muscatine Memorial Park. Nichols Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services is caring for Raymond's family and arrangements.
