Nashville Cremation Center - NashvilleSharon Kay Flatt Walker, age 78, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 16, 2025, following complications from a stroke, after courageously being on hospice care since May.
Born with a servant’s heart, Sharon dedicated her life to caring for others. She spent over 30 years as an emergency room nurse at Metropolitan Nashville General Hospital and an additional seven years providing long-term care at Metropolitan Nashville Bordeaux. Her compassion, strength, and calm presence brought comfort to countless patients and families over the decades. In recognition of her outstanding service and commitment to nursing, Sharon was honored as the very first recipient of the Nightingale Award from Amedisys Hospice.
Beyond her remarkable career, Sharon was devoted to her family and faith. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she lived her life guided by love, humility, and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Edith Flatt. She is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Leonard Walker; siblings, Homer Flatt, Jr., Jerry Flatt, and Penny (Lewie) Eden; children, Melanie Bradberry and Brandon (Beverley) Walker; grandchildren, Justin (Grace) Bradberry, Jordan (Elijah) Tolar, Willow Bradberry, Remy Walker, Jolie Bradberry, and Elias Walker; and great-grandchildren, Malachi Tolar and Hope Bradberry - all of whom were the light of her life.
In her free time, Sharon loved fishing, spending time in the mountains, and the occasional trip to the casino. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her caring spirit, and the way she always put others before herself. Her legacy of service and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
We invite you to a reception to reminisce, grieve, support each other, chat, eat and celebrate Sharon’s life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Old Hickory Church of Christ, 1001 Hadley Avenue, Old Hickory, Tennessee, 37138.
