Age 74 of Custer Park, Illinois passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.

Born November 28, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, Sharon Therese was a daughter of Joseph William and Theresa Ivancicts. She was raised and educated in Chicago and attended Chicago Vocational High School. On April 16, 1966, Sharon married James West in St. Rita Catholic Church in Chicago, and together they made a home and raised a family.

Sharon was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and belonged to the Braidwood Recreation Club, where she enjoyed fishing and camping with family. Sharon worked various jobs to assist in supporting the family, however was primarily a dedicated wife and mother. She was a talented and gifted seamstress that enjoyed crafting and crocheting. Her talents also carried over in to the garden, as well as the kitchen, baking from scratch and making carrot cake at Easter and Thanksgiving and fudge at Christmas. Sharon took pleasure in watching the birds and collected angels.

Another hobby was that of being a devoted sports fan, and Sharon was passionate in cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Blackhawks and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Survivors include her six children: Christine (Tom) Begler of Braidwood, Jean (David) Gerat of Wilmington, Katherine (John) Wagner of Willowbrook, Therese (Michael) Weaver of Wilmington, James (Angie) West of Minooka and Anne Edrisi of Irvine, CA; eleven grandchildren: Zachary (Stephanie) Begler, Jacob (Becky) Begler, Matthew Gerat, Rachel Wagner, Taylor Wagner, Brianna Weaver, Owen Weaver, Jessica (Josh) Vanderzanden, Kayla West, Amir Edrisi and Aaliyah Edrisi; three great grandchildren: Leighton, Cole and Daulton with two more on the way; one sister: Kathy (Bob) Kurtz of Flagstaff, Arizona; one brother, Kenneth Ivancicts of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Mary (Snap) Morris of Chicago; one brother-in-law, Brian (Sue) West of Essex and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband James West; one granddaughter Arianna; brother, Joseph Ivancicts and one sister-in-law, Jean (Dennis) Gilday.

Visitation will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM, and on Wednesday morning November 22, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow Wednesday morning in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Sebastian Gargol presiding.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
