Sharon Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 20, 2024.
This is the story of Sharon "Kay" Chirrick Wilson. Kay, as she preferred to be called, was a sweet and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had an amazing sense of humor and left behind laughter and fond memories to those she encountered. She passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on March 16, 2024.
Kay's story began on April 22,1939 in Reno, Nevada. She was the oldest daughter of Mildred (Hendren) and George Stewart. Kay spent her childhood in western Nebraska and the western slope of Colorado where she graduated from Cedaredge High School. While living in Cedaredge, Colorado, she met her husband Clark Lee Wilson, who had just been discharged from the army. Kay and Clark shared a love of the outdoors on the western slope of Colorado, with many summers spent on Grand Mesa outside of Cedaredge. Kay and Clark started their family and had three children: Kenneth Lee, Ronald Dean, and Leslie Joy. In the mid sixties, Kay and Clark moved their family to Colorado Springs, where Clark worked for Mountain Bell, and Kay was busy raising their children while going to cosmetology school. With license in hand, she and Shirley Briggs operated a beauty shop. Kay and Clark for many years settled their family in Peyton, Colorado. While in Peyton, they raised and trained Labrador Retrievers, and competed in field trials throughout Colorado. Later on, they began raising and showing llamas. Kay loved her llama babies and Labrador puppies. Kay and Clark's final home for 20 years was Fountain, Colorado.
Kay had many hobbies: bowling league in the afternoons with her girlfriends, crafting of ceramics and gifting her creations to her family, and joining the Red Hat Society. It came as no surprise that all of these aligned perfectly with her social personality, which extended to countless conversations with friends and family over coffee at her dining room table.
Kay's family was her heart and joy. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and tons of unforgettable memories. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Lee Wilson, her parents, Mildred and George Stewart, and great-grandson, Walker Dean Wilson. Kay was one of a kind and will be missed by her family. She is survived by her three children, Kenneth Wilson, Ronald Wilson (Judy) and Leslie Norvell (Oak). Her six grandchildren, Shane Wilson (Ashlee), Justin Wilson (Cambriell), Cristi Barber (Mathieu), Jacob Wilson (Alicia), Kate Vogel (Marcus), and Tess Liles (Josh). Her eleven great-grandchildren, Bryce, Payton, Nakoa, Lily, Maddox, Gavin, Collins, Bristol, Walker, Ivy and Porter. Her sister's, Shirley Stewart and Susan Hawk, and nieces Wendy, Gina, Angie and Mindy.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Kay Wilson's memory by sharing a joke, a smile, or an act of kindness. Life is short, let us make sure to enjoy it. Rest in peace dear Mom.
A celebration of Kay's life will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 am at Dove Witt Family Mortuary located at 6630 S. US Hwy 85/87 Fountain, Colorado 80817.
