Sharyle E. Hapner, 80, of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, where she lived full-time for the past year, passed away at 1:29 a.m., Tuesday, October 7,2025 at Gulf Port Memorial Hospital. Sharyle was a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana. She was born on January 28, 1945, to William and Mary (Snowberger) Benson in Wabash, Indiana.
Sharyle was a 1963 graduate of Wabash High School. She married William J. Hapner on August 27, 1965. Sharyle was a homemaker but also worked for Wabash City Schools as a crossing guard for 33 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 15 in Wabash and volunteered at F.I.S.H. of Wabash.
Sharyle is survived by her husband, William J. Hapner, of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; two sons, William J. (Beverly) Hapner of Manchester, Tennessee, Scott L. (Christy) Hapner of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; one daughter, Carrie (Matt) Green of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Mike (Delores) Benson and Darrell (Deb) Benson both of Wabash, Indiana; four grandchildren, Andrew Jacob (Fiancé Carrie) Hapner of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Abby (Tyler) Totten of Manchester, Tennessee, Anna (Santino) Laboy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Clayton (Elizabeth) Hapner of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; and three great-grandchildren, Ryman, Grayson, and Shepard. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia, and one brother, William (Billy).
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Wabash Christian Church, 110 W. Hill Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastors Ron Zorn and Haley Asberry officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wabash Christian Church or F.I.S.H. of Wabash.
