Shaun Muncy

Shaun Muncy, 42, of Salem, SD passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 as the result of a farming accident near Salem. Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Shaun Muncy was born June 29, 1981 in Kansas City, MO to Dennis and Donna (Alexander) Muncy. He grew up on his family farm where he was raised his grandparents. After school he enlisted in the US Navy where he served honorably for 4 years. He also served in law enforcement in York County, NE, Greeley County, NE and Valley County, NE from around 2020-2023. While with the Sheriff's department he made a huge impact on those communities as well as had gone through training to become a K-9-unit Officer. He also ran for Sheriff of Greeley County.
Shaun was a very gifted musician playing the steel guitar for many bands from Texas to South Dakota. He most recently was playing with Randy Burghardt and his band. His stage presence and love for his music was very strong. Music was his gift to people, his pride and his peace.
Shaun was loved by many and recently made his way to South Dakota for a brief time. He found work on a farm nearby in Salem. The farming life was one of his many loves in life. And in his brief stay in South Dakota, he made an impact on everyone that had the chance to meet him.
Shaun will always be remembered for his jokes, that cowboy smile of his, and his way a lighting up any room. He made an impression on everyone he met and will forever be in their hearts.
Shaun is survived by: his fiancé, AliJo Pawlowski and her children; his daughter, Reagan Muncy; his father, Dennis (Becky Shoaf) Muncy; his mother, Donna Alexander Muncy; his grandmother, Phyllis Alexander; his brother, Nathan Muncy; his sister, Madison Muncy; his uncle Scott (Dana) Alexander; his aunts, Denise (Jeff) Klepac and Cheryl Stevens; and his dog, Crosik who served as Shaun's law enforcement companion.
