Shauna Burke Obituary

Visit the Larkin Mortuary - Salt Lake City website to view the full obituary.
Shauna Marie Dennis Burke was 50 years old when she passed away, 6 October 2025 at Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah.

Born 15 March 1975 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Bert LaVan Dennis and Diana Lee Zobell. She struggled very hard when she was born with lungs that were not fully developed and grave difficulty swallowing. After two weeks in University of Utah NICU center her lungs were sufficient to sustain her but her ability to swallow was still paramount. Because she had to be fed via a tube into her stomach her mother was instructed how to do this, and she was released to go home.

She was always interested in reading and learning. She graduated with honors with a full scholarship to Utah State University, in Logan, Utah. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and a minor in English. During summer breaks she worked at a temporary employment agency with whatever job was available, thus earning the financial support needed for her personal needs during her college years.

As a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was always very conscious of her membership and how she lived her life. She always wanted to pay for her own way in life. Even while living with her parents after graduation she wanted to help financially with things that were needed. She became interested in family history work at a young age and it became one of her favorite interests. As far as hobbies or interests, family history took center stage. She was instrumental in bringing many family members together through her family history work.

All she ever wanted was to be a wife and mother. She married David Glen Burke in the Salt Lake Temple on 7 February 2003. Together, they had four children, Makaela Jean, Elizabeth Marie, Matthew David, and Charlotte Eva. They were the love of her life and did everything together.

She is survived in death by her parents Bert and Diana Dennis, her husband David Glen Burke and her four children, three daughters Makaela, Elizabeth, and Charlotte and her son Matthew. She was preceded in death by two siblings Bert Jr. 1964-1964 and Lorraine 1965-1965, she has two surviving sisters Tamara (Powell) and Jennifer (Boyd).

Her funeral service will be held on Monday 13 October 2025 at 11:00 am with a viewing starting at 9:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel located at 5000 West Pavant Avenue, West Valley City, Utah. There will also be a viewing on Sunday 12 October 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at 5000 West Pavant Avenue. She will be laid to rest in the Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
