Shawn Lamar "Shawny-Boy" Bynum

Shawn Lamar "Shawny-Boy" Bynum, passed into the loving arms of Jesus, at age 54, on September 27, 2023. Shawn was born to the late Gary and Emma (Parrish) Bynum. Shawn had a passion to enjoy everyday life! He was an avid Jaguars, Packers, and Gators fan, he loved football. He always enjoyed a great cup of coffee, and his favorite food was Pepperoni Pizza – That's Amore'. His contagious smile and warm personality always touched everyone around him. He was a true Gem. He loved the LORD Jesus, his wrestling, bowling and any activity presented to him. He loved his family, including his Group Home family and Day Program friends. Shawn was very compassionate, outgoing, and always wanted to help others. He will be missed by many, but he celebrates in his pure, gold home in Heaven. No more cancer, no more pain, no more handicaps. Shawn is perfect and free.
He is survived by his sister, Lisa (Bynum) Luft (husband, Jon), nephews; Hardy Holland IV (wife, Samantha), Michael Holland, niece, Heather (Holland) Danyus (husband, Roy), and 2 great nieces; Audrey Schultz and Abbie Holland. Aunts and Uncles, Sara (Parrish) Halligan (husband, Dale), Harvie Parrish (wife, Mary), Rudolph Parrish, Orell Parrish (wife, Doris) and Judy Lowery. Cousins, Sheila Rivenbark (husband, Mark), Karen Franquiz (husband, Ron), Jamie Parrish (wife, Katie), and many other loving family and friends.
Family would like to personally thank Roger & Cindy Bollinger for their loving support during Shawn's transition as it meant a lot to us, as well as his caregivers at ARC Grove House (Ann, Penny, Tammy, Will, Sharon, and Janice) and the Day Program staff. Special thanks to Community Hospice nurses & caregivers that loving cared for Shawn in his final month.
Family invites you to attend a Celebration of Shawn's life on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 4:00 pm with Pastor Rick Doughtery officiating at Ferreira Funeral Service 1320 S Chaffee Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32221. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Jaguar colors/attire welcomed. Additional Services and Burial will be held in Troy, AL, with Skeen Funeral Home with a final resting place in Brundidge, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ARC Jacksonville www.arcjacksonville.org and Community Hospice of Jacksonville www.thefoundationcares.org in Honor of Shawn.
