Shawn Doll Obituary

Shawn was a proud graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn, where he enjoyed playing football. He went on to attend Eastern Michigan University and later received his bachelor's degree in marketing from the Detroit College of Business. Shawn worked as a pharmaceutical representative for Forrest Pharmaceuticals. He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Dearborn. Shawn was an avid football fan, who especially enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions. He loved deer and pheasant hunting, making people laugh, spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, Honey, Nanook, and Mia. Shawn, the self-proclaimed "Music Man", also loved music, classic rock being his favorite. After his diagnosis with cancer, Shawn founded the Shawn's 5K Walk Run for Cancer to raise money to help those battling the disease.
In addition to his wife, Kristina Doll, Shawn is survived by two children, Briana Doll of Linden, Michigan, and Michael Gonzalez of Hebron, Indiana; and three sisters, Kimberly (Eddie) Leydig of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Tina (Pepper) Doll of Oklahoma, and Shelly (Mark) Rushing of Hillsdale.
Shawn was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Shawn Doll will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Graveside services will take place Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Lakeview Cemetery in Hillsdale.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to assist with funeral expenses, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

As I write I express my condolences to Kirstina, Kim, Tina and Shelly during the very difficult time. You all experienced the time of his illness and attempts at recovery from cancer procedures. It is about that time that I most think.
If there is anything that I carry in my mind about that very long and difficult journey it is that during it all Shawn carried a vivid determination and optimism. During the times my wife and I talked to him via the computer, he always spoke about never giving up and always continuing the fight. That, of course, had to be very difficult. But he continued for four years.
Memories of many things will remain. From years of childhood and playing football for Fordson High School. But it is his determination and optimism that I will most remember.
Mary and I extend our sympathy and continued prayer that he may continue life in the eternity he has been promised. God bless you, Shawn.
