Shawn Suzette (Thorn) Hamrick, beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother, suddenly passed from this life at her grandmother's home on March 25, 2026, at the age of 57. She was born on December 12, 1968, in Morgantown, WV.
Shawn is survived by her parents Ronald Curtis and Karen Lee Thorn of Grafton, WV; her brother Jason Myers Thorn of Grafton, WV; her daughter Tyler Elizabeth Sandy and husband Titus of Arthurdale; WV, her granddaughter Tillie Jean Eleanor Sandy and a grandson who will arrive in July; maternal grandmother, Mary Jean Turner of Cheat Lake, WV; and her uncle John Harman Thorn as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding her in death was her loving uncle, David Harold Turner; her step grandfather, Mitchell L. Turner; and her grandparents Nell and Stanley Thorn.
She loved her family and friends unconditionally and was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. Shawn was excitedly awaiting the arrival of her second grandchild. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones. She was helping to care for her grandmother at the time of her sudden passing.
Shawn loved animals and left behind her loving and faithful cat, Tinker, named after a friend she lost years ago.
She attended Morgantown Vocational and Technical Center as well as WV Career College in Morgantown, WV
Shawn had various rewarding positions throughout her life, starting work at a young age, including Jax at the Mountainlair, food service with WVU Mountainlair Catering and Summit Hall Foodservice, Mountainview Rehabilitation Hospital and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital, Westover Shop and Save, Nursing Assistant at Madison, Office Assistant at WVU School of Dentistry, Accounts Payable Clerk at Fibair/Hollinee, Payroll/Billing/Human Resource Coordinator for Medical Staffing Network, Elder Beerman, and temporary work at WVU School of Dentistry and School of Pharmacy. She loved each and every one of those positions.
The family would like to thank Morgantown EMS and Cheat Lake Fire Department for all they did at the time of her passing.
Cremation services have been arranged by Fred L.Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
