Shawn Richard Lutey

Shawn Richard Lutey passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Shawn was born on August 12, 1973, in Akron, Ohio to parents Richard and Barbara Lutey (nee Fabian). Shawn attended Waterloo Schools, where he made so many friends, including the Chonies. They share a special bond to this day and enjoy their time spent at the cabin in Piedmont. At the age of 16, Shawn got his first job, not knowing that he would stay with Giant Eagle for nearly 36 years. He continued to climb the ladder, eventually earning the position of Grocery Manager. Shawn met Kelly in February of 2002. Kelly saw him shooting pool and decided right then and there that she was "going to know him and learn to play the game that he enjoyed." Kelly's plan worked, Shawn soon realized that his life wouldn't be complete without her. Kelly will also tell you that she learned the game so well that she became better than him. Shawn and Kelly built a life together surrounded by family, friends and their loves, Princess Aggie and Sir Mogley. Shawn enjoyed living life. What he missed out on in quantity he made up for with quality. He loved hunting, fishing, jeep rides, traveling, golfing, bowling, spending time with friends and family, and cooking. Shawn was preceded in death by his mother Barb, father in law Ernest Sharp, brother in law Joseph Durbin, brother in law Zachary Mitchell and nephew Nathan Scaduto. He is survived by his WIFEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Kelly Lutey (nee Sharp), father Richard Lutey (Linda), mother and father in law Barb and Tracy Johnson, siblings Jeff, Jill (Bob), Michele (Danny), Stephanie (David), and Tressa (Bill); in laws Carrie (Mike), Mandy (Erik), Logan and Logan, Jenn (Mark), Aunt Sheila, grandparents in law Jim and Nancy Rainsberger and a multitude of nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. A private service will be held this week followed by cremation.
