1984 – 2024
GARDINER – Shawn M. Nash, 39, of Gardiner, Died Tuesday, January 30th, 2024, at Central Maine Medical Central after a long illness.
He was born in Augusta, Maine on December 29th, 1984, the son of Clifford R. Sousa, Sr., and Laurie Nash Carlton Lawrence.
Shawn was a fun-loving man who had a passion for NASCAR. His favorite driver was Dale Sr., and he cherished every moment spent watching the races. He would often stop by Whippers, a local eatery, to grab a bite and chat with anyone he knew. However, his most cherished moments were spent at his favorite fishing hole, where he would reel in "the big ones" as he liked to say. Fishing was not just a hobby for Shawn; it was a way for him to unwind and connect with nature. In addition to his love for fishing and NASCAR. Shawn had a knack for helping people with their cars and mechanic work. This passion started when he was young and continued throughout his life. He always found joy in lending a hand and making sure others could get back on the road safely.
Family meant everything to Shawn, and he treasured the relationships he had with his loved ones. His gram and pa held a special place in his heart since he was young. Shawn also built a strong bond with his friends considering them as important as blood family because blood doesn't end in family. The Maine Facial Beard Club played a significant role in his life, and the "brothers" he made were like family to him.
He was predeceased by his father Clifford R Sousa Sr., and Aunt Elaine Letendre.
Shawn is survived by mother Laurie Nash Carlton Lawrence; gram Sharon Nash and his Pa Ronald Nash Sr.; two aunts Rhonda and Kelly Nash; an uncle Ronald Nash Jr.; four siblings Clifford Sousa Jr, Ashlee Carlton, Darren Carlton, and Cecile R Sousa; wifey Boo Michelle J Whitten; six children Morgan Murphy, Melani Mansir, Isabelle Whitten, Elijah Whitten, Walker Goins, and Gavin Marquis; three nieces Autumn Willis, Sarah Thurlow, Aubrianna Carlton; three nephews Elijah Carlton, Darren Carlton III, and Aaron Sousa.
Shawn's celebration of life will be held later in the Spring.
Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, www.staplesfuneralhome.com
