Shawn Michael Shappley, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kim McCollum Shappley; a daughter Bailey Shappley Harrold; a beloved son-in-law Issac Harrold; 2 treasured granddaughters, Emalyn and Layla Harrold; a sister Dawn Maxwell and husband Richie of Chicopee, MA and a niece Fallon Billeter and husband Andrew and their 3 children Delaney, Faye, and Rory of Ludlow, MA; aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many cherished friends.

Shawn was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Donald R. Shappley and Patricia F. Gavin. He was raised in Chicopee, Massachusetts until he moved to Henderson in the summer of 1973. Shawn played baseball for the Tigers A.C. in Massachusetts before coming to Chester County where he joined the CCHS basketball team graduating in 1977. After high school, Shawn enlisted in the United States Navy for 6 years as an electrical equipment repairman and traveled the world on the USS Long Beach. During his service, he was awarded a Sea Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze stars, a Navy “E” Battle Award, and a Humanitarian Service Medal.

Shawn was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, the Chicopee Moose International, and a member and former officer of the Henderson Elks. To know Shawn was to love him. He had a spirit for life that was unparalleled. Shawn was often known as the “life of the party” and if there wasn’t a party, Shawn showed up and made it one. He loved with his whole heart and he loved big. Family and friendship were his greatest treasures in life. Shawn was often there to brighten moods, make you laugh, and you never had to wonder what he was thinking because he would just tell you! He loved sports, all sports. You would find him watching his Notre Dame football team, the Tennessee Vols, The Celtics, and he always enjoyed a good golf game with his best buddies. He loved his Classic Rock and always had music playing and would sing along even if he didn’t know the words and would often make up his own as he went along! But above all else, he loved the adventures that he and Kim would take together. Shawn was always up for adventure! Shawn was a one- of-a kind soul. “The Legend-Big Daddy-Shawn” will be missed as he definitely left his footprints in this community and was loved by so many.

Visitation will be at Shackleford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel Sunday, January 5th, 2025 from 1:00- 3:00 with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
