Shearon Onnen

Shearon Ann Onnen (Teaters) went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 12, 2025. Shearon was born in Chicago, IL. and lived in the Spring Hill -Brooksville area for many years. This past year, however, she lived in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. for the last 9 months. Shearon was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Evelyn Hafferkamp, husband, William Onnen, sister, Joyce Neeleman, and husband Frank Teaters. Children include Jacqueline Beck & husband, John, Joyce Compton and step-daughter, Cindy Evers & husband, John. Grandchildren include Rachael Jukarainen & husband, Ville, Kristopher Zeigler & girlfriend, Niki, John Evers, Andrew Zeigler & wife, Sarah, Amber Beck, and Joshua Evers.
Shearon was a talented artist and crafter. She loved to draw, paint, make beaded wire trees, floral arrangements, and many other items. As a result, she ran successful shops in several different flea markets (Spring Hill, Homosassa Springs and Fort Walton Beach) to sell her items, but she always said it wasn't about selling things, it was always about meeting people and making friends. And that, she did. She was also an animal lover-furry, feathered, scaled- didn't matter- she loved them all. She's had many animals during her lifetime, all loved and well cared for. She was a bit like the pied-piper, animals seemed to find her where-ever she went. She was a long-time SPCA member and also volunteered at the Hernando County Humane Society for years as well, so you can imagine how many she brought home!
Shearon had a successful career as a nursing home administrator in Wisconsin, Illinois, and finally, in Florida stretching over 3 decades. She also ran an Assisted Living Facility for a while. Always an advocate for the elderly and for people with mental illnesses, she volunteered as an Ombudsman for the Department of Elder Affairs for several years and worked in the mental health field as a Quality monitor. In addition, she was a long-time Eastern Star member.
Shearon's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Brewers and Sons Funeral Home at 280 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, FL. Visitation begins at 10 am and the service begins at 11 am followed by interment at the Florida Hills Memorial Gardens on Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill.
