While spending numerous weeks in NICU, the fighter within was cultivated. With each passing day, she consistently met the challenges & crossed the hurdles of prematurity and fought her way home. It was there that she continued be loved & nurtured by family, especially her grandma (Ethel) who affectionately called her 'Baby Doll'.
She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour at a very young age and was a member at Faith Temple Church. She later joined Church of the Highlands.
Sherketta was educated in the Birmingham City School System and graduated from West End High School with an Advanced Honors Diploma May 1993. Her desire to serve people in any capacity led her to major and graduate with a degree in Social Work from Lawson State Community College. She made a career in Central Cardiac Monitoring at Princeton and University Hospitals.
Her love for the arts shaped much of her life. Sherkeeta was an avid reader, loved many genres of music, and was a talented singer. She was a composer of both poems and songs. During her tenure in high school, she was an active member of the Thespian Club and performed in many plays and dramas. Most notable was her performance in God's Trombones, The Prodigal Son. She was a true 'Drama Queen'.
