MAMOU - Sheila Marie Fontenot, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 7, 2024. Born in Mamou, LA on October 4, 1963, Sheila was the daughter of Toland and Marjorie Fontenot. Funeral Services will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at Pine Point Cemetery. Deacon Ben Soileau will conduct the services.
Sheila had a heart full of love and a spirit that touched the lives of everyone she encountered. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother to her grandchildren. She loved them to the moon and back and cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to being a loving grandmother, Sheila had a zest for life. She had a passion for crafting and expressing her creativity through various hobbies such as making wreaths, craft woodwork, and diamond painting. These activities brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her talent with others.
She also treasured spending time with her friends and family. She understood the importance of building strong connections and nurturing meaningful relationships. Her warm smile and caring nature made everyone feel welcomed and loved in her presence.
Sheila's love story with her significant other, Jerry Gradney, spanned 23 beautiful years filled with laughter, support, and unwavering companionship. Although Jerry has since passed away, their bond remains eternal.
She will be missed dearly by her daughters, Misty and husband, Jessie McCullough II of Oakdale, Ashley Hawkins and partner, Dustin Ortego of Turkey Creek, Tiffany Howell of Turkey Creek; ten grandchildren, Segan Clark, Jaylin Clark, Bladen Clark, Kamdon Ray, Karlee Ray, Lexi and Anna Hawkins, Jessie McCullough III, Jeslyn McCullough and Briggs McCullough. Also, left to cherish her memories is her aunt, Germaine Reed Larson.
Sheila is proceeded in death by her parents, Toland and Marjorie Fontenot; her loving companion, Jerry Gradney; her brother, Gary J. Fontenot and her sister, Mary D. Fontenot.
At the family’s request, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, January 11, 2024, beginning at 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 8:00 AM until time of service.
