Sheila Leydig Obituary

Sheila Lucille Leydig, 94, of Masonic Village of Sewickley, formerly of Lower Burrell, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, at the Masonic Village. Born Oct. 13, 1928, in Williston, N.D., she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Aleda Shiek. She was a member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Aliquippa, and Airys Temple No. 48 Daughters of the Nile. Sheila loved singing, dancing, traveling, attending Shriner events, and all her wonderful friends at the Masonic Village. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Richard Leydig; a daughter, Pamela Leydig Billick; a son, Richard Leydig Jr.; her sister, Shirley Borrud; and a son-in-law, Joe McCarthy. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann McCarthy; her devoted son, Thomas (Cheryl) Leydig; a son-in-law, W. Dean Billick; her grandchildren, Richard III (Dana) Leydig, Laura (Shawn) Carter, Scott (Genevieve) Leydig, Michelle (Frank) Mambuca and Cara Leydig; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, PA 15001. Family and friends will gather Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 2100 W. Irwin St., Aliquippa, PA 15001, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Sourwine officiating. Private interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Aliquippa. The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Masonic Village of Sewickley for all their kindness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Village Employee Appreciation Fund, 1000 Masonic Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143, or Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o The Pittsburgh Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024.
