Sheila was born on March 22, 1952, in Morehead City, NC, to the late James Bruce and Sidney Alane Frost Grantham. She graduated from West Carteret High School and worked for many years at Foodland in Salter Path, NC for Paul Guthrie and Josie Conner Guthrie. She worked in many capacities there from store clerk to bookkeeper. She also worked at Frost Seafood Restaurant, Frank and Clara’s and Crab Shack.

Sheila was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, friend and grandma. She married Robert Salter on March 1, 1974, and together they built a life and a family that included sons, Romie Salter (Cheryl) of Salter Path and Robbie Salter (Lindsay) of Cedar Point and three cherished grandsons, Connor Salter of Salter Path, and Parker and Jase Salter of Cedar Point. Sheila is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Frost (Marty); stepbrother, Jim Grantham; stepsister, Lynn Grantham; nieces, Dwana Desantis (Tod), Debbie Willis (Johnnie), Tiffany Jewel (Jesse), and Amanda Trott (Daniel); nephews, Jamye Frost and Andy Salter Jr.; and great nieces and nephews, Dylan Trott, Hunter Trott, Cassie Desantis, Casius Jewel, and Cove Desantis.

In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by sister, Tina Marie Bruce Perdue; brother, Robert Bruce; stepfather, Frank Grantham; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Jenny Salter and Andy and Linda Salter.

One of her greatest heartaches was the loss of her beloved husband of 51 years, Robert A. Salter Sr. just a few months ago on May 10, 2025, but they are together again. We take comfort that she is at peace with her Heavenly Father and her loved ones. Her days of pain and sorrow are over, and she is free and has everlasting joy.
