On May 17th, former West Deptford high school honorary prom queen, Sheila Trifiletti, age 72, peacefully passed away at her Clementon residence surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her children Ryan and Danielle, grandson Tyler, brother Lee Sherwin, nieces, nephews, and friends.
During her early twenties she began a rewarding career as a travel agent and quickly developed extensive knowledge and an impressive client base following. The travel industry provided Sheila with the fortitude/luxury for further exploration which included her choice of a companion to accompany her on exclusive trips. Some of her fondest experiences included visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, Switzerland, Morocco, and traveling throughout the rest of Europe via train with her friend Angela. She also vacationed throughout the Caribbean, including the following destinations: The Virgin Islands, St. Martin, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Grenada, Hawaii, Mexico, Aruba, and Jamaica.
She was an adventurous person. Sheila obtained several accolades including winning Miss. Travel Agent title in 1973 and 1974 and won a trip to Columbia. Her adventures consisted of scuba diving, horse/camel riding, snorkeling, snow / water skiing. One unforgettable memory that Sheila's friend Angela has shared is when Sheila and she met John Lennon from the (Beatles) in Philadelphia while he was doing a telethon to raise money.
Sheila was incredibly creative and artistically gifted. She thoroughly enjoyed Arts & Crafts. She was a well-versed cook/baker and especially known for her famous fried egg sandwiches. She loved to debate politics, history, arts, and geography.
Sheila was extremely family oriented and although she suffered tremendous losses throughout her life including losing her father at the young age of 9, her stepfather George, and mother at the age of 29. Life's unexpected trials and tribulations did not change Sheila's outlook on life. She persevered and still exuded remarkable inner strength, resilience, empathy, patience, selflessness, understanding, guidance, kindness, forgiveness all while staying true to her convictions and morals. Her most fulfilling yet challenging accomplishment was being a doting mother to her son Ryan and daughter Danielle. She wore many hats throughout parenthood which her children are eternally grateful for. Her generosity and loyalty never wavered. Her love, support, and time remained consistent. She was extremely insightful, a great talker, listener, and advisor. She will be forever missed.
Graveside Services will take place this Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Eglington Cemetery, 320 Kings Hwy, Clarksboro, NJ.
