Gilbert "Gil" Bunker, 90, formerly of Turnersville, NJ, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, in his daughter's home in Allentown, where he had been residing. He was the husband of the late Louise (Tompkins) and Carole (Hunter) Bunker. Born in Philadelphia on February 19, 1935, Gil was the son of the late William Henry Bunker, Sr., and Edith (Schaeffer) Bunker. He faithfully and honorably served in the U.S. Army during a peacetime era. He was a retired police officer, serving Philadelphia PA, and the Port Authority Transit Corporation in South New Jersey.

A Girard College alumnus, Gil was a volunteer archivist at Founder's Hall, a member of the Girard College Alumni Association and recipient of the Stephen Girard Award, its highest honor, and the editor of the "7B Buzz." He was an active member of the Bunker Family Association, holding the positions of President (1982) and Editor. He was a member of the International Police Association, serving as President, and the Police Benevolent Association. He also held memberships in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Norwegian Historical Society.

Gil was an eloquent writer, publishing his autobiography, "Living Legacy," in 2015.

Survivors: children, Beverly McMahon and her husband, Richard of Allentown, John Bunker and his wife Grace of West Deptford, NJ, James Talley and his wife, Nadine of Williamstown, NJ and the late Michael S. Bunker; grandchildren, James, Patrick, Alexandra, Connor, Charlie, Michael, Colin; predeceased by siblings, Bette Jane, William, Robert, Roy.

Service: A celebration of Gil's life will be Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the McGuinness Funeral Home (Woodbury Location), 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private. The Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown, is in charge of local arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.stephensfuneral.com.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Girard College Alumni Association/ 2101 S. College Avenue #605/ Philadelphia, PA. 19121.
