Harry M. Leister Jr.

Harry M. Leister, Jr., 84, of Ambler, PA passed away on August 29, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie ( nee Mascola) Leister. Harry was born in Quakertown, PA on March 3, 1941 to the late Harry M. and Dorothy (Nyce) Leister. Harry graduated from Girard College and went on to receive his Bachelor's degree from Penn State University, his Master's Degree from Drexel University and his PhD in Chemistry from Temple University. He spent his entire career working as a chemist at Amchem, Quaker Chemical and Q2 Technologies. Harry was very active in the Knights of Colombus, serving as Grand Knight, Ambler Kiwanis Club and the Ambler Jaycees. He volunteered for numerous events at St. Anthony of Padua Church, where he also served as an usher. Harry enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, visiting every continent except Antarctica. In addition, Harry enjoyed bowling, playing poker with his friends and was an avid Flyers fan. He had a green thumb and could always be found puttering around in his garden. He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Leister, Christopher Leister (Wanda), Mary Jo Winz (Jim), Tricia Allen (Sean); 6 grandchildren: Lauren (Darryl), Brooke (George), Austin (Maggie), Kevin, Caroline, Kayla (Tre); 3 great-grandchildren: Ali, Lizzie and Josie; 3 siblings: Thomas Leister (Brenda), Donna Weiss (the late Norman), Bruce Greene (Roma). He was predeceased by his stepfather James Greene. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler, PA 19002. A viewing will be held from 9: 30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Church with Words of Remembrance beginning at 10:15 AM. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harry's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market St #250, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
