Sheilah Payne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Feb. 25, 2026.
Sheilah Faye Payne passed away on February 11, 2026. She was born on August 17, 1953, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Roy Hugh Fisher Jr. and Faynelle Alberty Fisher.

Sheilah dedicated her career to civil service at Tinker Air Force Base, faithfully serving until an injury required her early retirement. In her free time, she found joy in tending her flower beds and caring for her houseplants. She especially loved bird watching and looked forward each year to the arrival of the hummingbirds. Music was a constant companion, and she enjoyed listening to songs and watching music videos.

Sheilah was known for her sharp mind and playful spirit. She was a crossword enthusiast, a Scrabble and Wheel of Fortune champion among family and friends, and she unapologetically cherished her naps. More than anything, she had a heart of gold. She was intuitive, beautiful, and kind, always willing to help others when she could. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sheilah was preceded in death by her blended parents, Roy and Joan Fisher; Ken and Faynelle Sitts; Jack and Betty Smith; Ted Canatis; and her brother, Drew.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie and husband Scott; her son, Keith and girlfriend Lidia; her grandchildren, Raeley and fiancé Cody, Tanner, Finnegan, and Maxwell; her great grandchild, Camden; her sisters, Lisa, Jacque, Kathy, Wanda, and Rita; her brothers, Buddy and Brad; as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved feline companion, affectionately known as "Oce" (Oceanna), who never left her side.

Sheilah's legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories her family will cherish forever.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Barnes, Friederich & Pope Funeral Home on March 7 at 1:00 p.m.
