Shel Scot Buffaloe was born April 21, 1967, in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He was the second of three children born to Emanuel and Christine (nee Crockett) Buffaloe.
A lifelong resident of Plainfield, NJ, Shel attended Cook Elementary School, Wardlaw Hartridge School, and Plainfield High School. He attended two years of college at Virginia State University before ultimately pursuing a career as a licensed insurance agent and business owner.
An avid sports fan, Shel played baseball and football as a child. Shel's childhood dream was to play professional baseball. However, his dream was deterred by a knee injury. Later in life Shel volunteered his time coaching Plainfield recreation youth basketball and Plainfield Pop Warner football. Shel was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
Shel was the proud father of three daughters: Jasmine, Shanelle, and Janae, who were his greatest joy and biggest accomplishment. To them, Shel was a provider, protector, role model, and friend. Shel's love for his children was evident in everything he did.
Shel is preceded in death by his father Emanuel Gregory Buffaloe. He is survived by his mother Christine Buffaloe; his brother Alex Buffaloe and sister Gaye Buffaloe; three daughters, Jasmine Buffaloe, Shanelle Travis, and Janae Cary; two grandsons, Kartaris Travis and Quentin Jones Jr.; his companion Eulie Coleman; and a host of family and friends who will forever hold Shel in their hearts.
Shel will be remembered for the love he gave, the wisdom he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind in the lives he touched.
Forever in our hearts.
