Shelby Jean Pullen, 81, of Havana, Florida, went to be with the Lord December 30, 2022, after an extended illness.
Shelba was born in Tallahassee, Florida, July 26, 1941, to Herbert C. Pullen and Irene Watson Pullen.
She is survived by a son, Kerry Joe Pullen (Madelyn), Quincy, Florida; sisters, Cheryl McCollum, Havana, Florida, Pattie Taylor (Tracy), Whigham, Georgia and brother, Terry Pullen, Tallahassee, Florida; 3 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved fur baby, Cheech.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Stanley McCollum, and nephew, Jake Taylor.
Shelba was a member of King's Way Christian Church.
Shelba grew up in Tallahassee and attended Leon High School and Lively Technical School.
She retired from Leon County Mosquito Control in 1996. After retirement, she spent many years taking care of her nephews, Bret and Cole, and enjoyed serving as a volunteer mentor at Canopy Oaks Elementary School.
Shelba was a talented artist and an amazing cook. She loved to read, play games, tell jokes, crochet and solve crossword puzzles. She was seldom seen without a crochet hook and yarn or a crossword puzzle book.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Faith Funeral Home, Havana, Florida. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Woodland Cemetery, Havana, Florida with Rev. Mike Park of Antioch Baptist Church, Wetumpka, Florida, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Florida 32308-5428.
