Shelby Holder Spease, 86, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on October 21, 1938, to the late Darcy William and Rosa Tucker Holder. Mrs. Spease loved her family, playing games, crocheting, traveling, and going to the beach and mountains. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Mrs. Spease retired from TW Garner Food Co. and attended Arcadia Church of Christ. She loved getting together with many close friends for breakfast and the church family for lunch.
Preceding her in death was her husband, James “Jim” Spease. Surviving is her daughter, Lori Pendry (fiancé, Russell Kahle); son, Darin Spease (Kathy); five grandchildren, Nathan Martin (Casandra), Nicole Starling (Steven), Mason Spease (Leah), Morgan Spease, and Kasey Spease; also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Isabela, Oceana, Jocelyn, Amelia, Mackenzie (Kenzie), Charlotte (Charlie) and Colette (CoCo).
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Ministers, Bobby Leonard and Joel Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spina Bifida Association of the Carolinas by visiting https://www.spinabifidaassociation.org/ or the Epilepsy Alliance by visiting https://www.epilepsync.org/
