MGySgt Simonovich was born on 24 May 1939 in Virginia, MN on the Mesabi Iron Range to Louis & Nancy Simonovich. He was raised in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA, and graduated in 1956 from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 3 Nov 1960. He retired from the Marine Corps in 30 Apr 1984 and spent the next 20 years as a civil avionics technician.
He is survived by his son Sheldon L. Simonovich, (Kathy), grandchildren Stephanie and Zachary (Kaitlyn) and great granddaughter Savannah. His sister Elayne Marciniak and brother Sam Simonovich (Mary). Many cousins and extended family members.
