With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Shelia Laretta Ausborne, a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who departed this life on August 22, 2025 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Shelia was born on November 4, 1953, in Tyler, Texas to Earline Murray and her biological father Clyde Ausborne. She was raised by her loving father Austin Williams. She spent her childhood in Los Angeles, California where she was surrounded by family and community. As an adult she relocated to Seattle Washington and Canada before making Colorado her home.
Shelia loved the outdoors and carried with her a strong, independent spirit. She was known for her no-nonsense way of living, her honesty, and her enduring strength. Those who knew her will remember her as a woman who lived life on her own terms and whose presence could both ground and inspire.
Shelia is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carol Williams and Regina Niles; brother Ronald Ausborne, two nieces, one nephew, and one great nephew.
Shelia is survived by her sons, Joshua (Selena) Ausborne of Victorville, CA, and Marcus Ausborne of Colorado Springs, CO; brother in-law Guillermo Niles of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Starlett Williams and Tara Frazier of Colorado Springs, CO and Vanessa (Boris) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law Cheryl Ausborne of Houston, TX. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Joshua Ausborne Jr of Colorado Springs, CO, Jah'Shay Ausborne of Colorado Springs, CO and Auhsoj Ausborne of New York; 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Though Shelia's journey on earth has ended, the memories she created and the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
