Shelley I. Bronkema, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 20th, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, soon to be great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was born on June 27th, 1951 in Fremont, Michigan to Janet Winchel and the late Howard Winchel. She was married to Larry Bronkema on June 26th, 1970. She was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and took great joy in participating in the sewing circle, lovingly sewing quilts for local hospitals.
Shelley is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Rachel Bronkema-Thacker; son, Benjamin (Heather) Bronkema; daughter, Sarah (David) Allen; and son, Matthew (Joanna) Bronkema; grandchildren, Leesha (David) Hendershot, Noah Bronkema, Ethan Bronkema, Benaiah (Elise) Allen, Bethany (fiancé, Micah) Allen, Abraham Allen, Abigail Allen, Emily (Michael) Volmer, Mikayla Bronkema, Lindsay Bronkema; and great granddaughter, baby girl Hendershot; brother, Howard (Kimberly) Winchel, brother, Neil Winchel, sister, Ann (Tim) Cook and sister, Vickie (Roger) Lyndrup, and sister Sue Smith.
She is preceded in death by her father, Howard Winchel Sr.; and brother, David Winchel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church, located at 432 W 300 N, Anderson, IN 46012. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family invites attendees to donate to Grace Baptist Music Ministry. Services are being arranged by Bozell Funeral Homes and officiated by Pastor Isaac Tyson.
