Shelly Arledge Obituary
Shelly's nickname of "Penny" came from Rogers wanting to name her Penelope, but Maggie got to fill out the birth certificate forms.
After the death of her father when she was eight years old, she moved around to many Texas locations but always called Brady home.
In recent years, she resided in Melvin, where she cared for her ailing mother until Maggie passed. Shelly had many friends over the years.
Shelly is preceded in death by her parents Maggie and Rogers Boyd, a brother, Freddie Louis Simmons, granddaughter Penny Jo Christner.
Shelly is survived by two daughters Candace Arledge and Cassandra Boyd, grandchildren Alyshia Scantling, Samuel Scantling and Trinity Christner, two great - grandchildren Aaden Scantling and Brooklyn Navarro, two brothers Danny Simmons and J. Roy Stewart, two sisters Ellen Boyd Florence, and Sandra Lewis, and her special friend John Charles Alley. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Brady.
