Shelly Lynn Hicks, a Phoenix native through and through, closed her final chapter in the same warm city where she first opened her eyes to the world on January 28, 1974. On October 24, 2024, Shelly, known for her contagious laughter and the kind of spirited presence that could light up any room, took her final bow. Shelly was the kind of person who embodied the spirit of her beloved Phoenix Suns-always in the game with a fighting spirit and a smile that could turn even the most nail-biting overtime into a joyous occasion. She cheered with the kind of enthusiasm that made you wonder if she wasn't part of the team herself. Off the court, she was a tiger enthusiast, not just for their fierce beauty but perhaps because, like Shelly, they were courageous and loving creatures. Her family, a vibrant crew that includes her mother Kayleen Bobo (Boyd), and her siblings Julia Presnillo, Timothy Hicks, Michael Hicks, Eric Hicks, and Kimberly Hicks, will miss her deeply. Shelly's father, Timothy M. Hicks, no doubt, was there to welcome her with open arms on the other side, likely ready to debate the best Suns game of all time. Going to the movies was Shelly's escape; she could laugh, cry, and cheer on the heroes and heroines of the silver screen. It's fitting to remember her with a chuckle. In life, Shelly was a scriptwriter of her own comedy, tackling each scene with a mix of courage, love, and that unmistakable Shelly flair. Her story may have reached 'The End,' but like any classic comedy, it's the kind of tale that will be retold and enjoyed for generations to come.
