Wendell Eugene Hicks, 65, of Cave Spring, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, entering into the presence of his loving Savior.

Wendell was born in Rome, Georgia July 7, 1960, the son of the late Winford Hicks and the late Shirley Meers Hicks. Wendell was a graduate of Armuchee High School.

Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Hicks (Starlett), and two sisters, Jeanice Teems (Terry) and Diane Williams; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Wendell was married to his wife, Laura, for 35 years and was the proud father of two sons, Sawyer Hicks (Taylor) and Gibson Hicks. He was a steady provider and protector, a wise teacher, and a loving leader in his family. Known for his legendary sense of humor, Wendell loved playing tricks and practical jokes, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him.

Wendell was the founder of Trees Unlimited, where he worked faithfully for 35 years. What began with a single bucket truck and chipper grew into a respected business built on hard work and integrity. He was a Certified Treecare Safety Professional and a dedicated member of the Tree Care Industry Association and the International Society of Arboriculture.

He also served his community with humility and heart, as a deacon at Rehoboth Baptist Church, through Rome Georgia Cares, and as a member of the Floyd County Sheriff's Office Posse. His deep love for the Lord guided every part of his life, and his faith touched all who knew him.

Wendell found great joy in coaching his sons from childhood through high school, instilling in them values of teamwork, perseverance, and character. He will be remembered for his strong faith, playful spirit, generous heart, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.

A celebration of Wendell's life will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at Rehoboth Baptist Church at 2:00pm. Friends and family will be received at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday, October 6, from 5:00-7:00pm. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehoboth Community Cemetery fund at the following address: Rehoboth Baptist Church PO Box 280 Cave Spring, Georgia 30124.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Tuesday at 1:30pm and include Active: Kent Dyer, Donald Terry, Bryson Lamboy, Chris Rittenhouse, Danny Rittenhouse and Eric Bennett. Honorary: Floyd County Sheriff's Office and Trees Unlimited.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
