Shelly Rae Volden left her earthly home on Monday, September 8, 2025.
She was born in Fargo, ND, to Herman and Esther (Kyllo) Volden on October 10, 1965. She was raised and educated in Ruthton, MN. After graduating from Moorhead State University with a major in Management and Business Administration, she moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul area to pursue her career. Her career in the medical arena focused on marketing products with automated procedures and processes. Later she pursued her passion to introduce and develop her own businesses working with the senior population. "Caring Transitions" focused on helping families downsize, declutter, hold estate sales and relocate. Another passion of Shelly's was to travel. Her travels took her to many cities and countries. Her traveling experience also opened the door to develop her own business, Volden Travel, to enable the "senior" population to travel on their own with the guidance and assistance of her companion travel. A hobby of Shelly's was photography which included pictures of the Minneapolis skyline as well as family and wedding portraits.
Shelly pursued her enjoyment of volleyball from high school by joining intramural volleyball teams in Fargo/Moorhead and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Over the years she has met and sustained long-term friendships. Another hobby Shelly enjoyed was riding bike and participating in biking events. Shelly also enjoyed learning and attending classes and events offered in the metro area. One event over a period of several weeks was riding with a patrolman and observing their daily duties and activities.
Shelly is survived by two sisters, Renae Utley, West Fargo, ND and Gail (Eric) Petersen, Ruthton, MN, nieces and nephews Melissa (Justin) Utley-Ruegsegger, Billings, MT; Christopher Petersen, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Ryan (Christina) Utley, Underwood, ND; Heidi (Matthew) Schaefer, Ruthton, MN and several great-nieces and nephews.
Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Esther (Kyllo) Volden, and sister, Karen Volden.
The family of Shelly Volden would like to extend a sincere "thank you" to the staff at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center and the wonderful family of "Shelly's long-time friends" that were always available to care and provide companionship to Shelly.
Shelly will be interred at Stordahl Cemetery, Galesburg, ND, along with her parents, sister and other close family relatives.
