Shelly Lee (Stempf) Wright, 69, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her daughter and sister.
Shelly was born on December 24, 1954, in Fargo, ND, to Raymond and Ardythe (Mechum) Stempf. She grew up in Glyndon, MN, and attended Glyndon Felton High School where she graduated in 1973. She moved to Colorado where she met Robert Wright. They were united in marriage in Glyndon, MN, and together had two children, Shawn and Shannon. She held waitressing jobs in Colorado, Texas, and North and South Carolina, before moving back to the Fargo Moorhead area where she waitressed at Smokey’s Bar and Grill. She earned her massage therapy license in Fargo at Sister Rosalind Gefre School of Professional Massage in 1999 and practiced in the Fargo Moorhead area for a few years. She then began her career with American Crystal Sugar as a machine Operator, retiring in 2020.
Shelly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and would occasionally join them for trips to Lake Maud. She enjoyed attending services at Maranatha Lutheran Church and loved to relax at home and enjoy her game shows with her cat, Bo. Most of all, she was a very proud grandmother and loved to spend time with her granddaughters, Shaylee and Cora.
Shelly is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Cody) Rubertus; granddaughters, Shaylee and Cora Rubertus; sister, Pam (Michael) Gruchalla; and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Shawn; parents, Raymond and Ardythe; and brothers, Jeff and Steve Stempf.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Maranatha Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN, following the service.
