Sheppard Powell, Jr. was born on April 6, 1958 in Fort Pierce, FL to the late Disie Mae Powell and Sheppard Powell, Sr. Sheppard attended the local schools of Saint Lucie County ultimately graduating from Fort Pierce Central High School in 1976. He was a jack of all trades and an all around individual. Before his health began to decline, he was a heavy equipment operator for Ferratex Solutions. He loved football and having an enjoyable time. Sheppard grew up attending 13th Street Church of God "Greater Faith" under the leadership of the late Bishop Frederick LaFleur.
On July 28, 2022, the book of life was closed for Sheppard Powell. He peacefully departed this life in order to receive his reward of eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francedia Powell; parents, Disie Powell and Sheppard Powell, Sr.; sister, Anne Powell Ingram; brother, L.C. Salvage.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Sheppard Powell III of Augusta, GA; daughter, Farrah (Howard) Whittaker of Fort Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Ya'Shavia (Demarious)Mellerson, Martavious Whittaker, and Kavion Whittaker; great granddaughter, De'Mariya Mellerson of Fort Pierce, FL; sister, Fredericka LaFleur of West Palm Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Bishop Clarence (Gloria) Ingram of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters-in-law, Carol Adkins and Alicia Adkins of Fort Pierce, FL; aunts, Betty Moore and Mable Feagin of Greenville, AL, Lucy Hale of Akron, OH; uncles, Roy Luckey of Fort Pierce, FL, Robert Powell and Jimmie Powell of Cleveland, OH; nieces, Sharonia LaFleur, Yulonda Avant of Fort Pierce, FL and Clarencia Q. Ingram of Davie, FL, and Toniqua LaFleur of West Palm Beach, FL; nephew, Delbert(Mearl)LaFleur of West Palm Beach, FL; godmother, Donnie Mullins of Fort Pierce, FL; goddaughter, Tamara Pryor of Okeechobee, FL; godbrother, Bill Betts of Tampa, FL; godsister, Patricia Mullins of Fort Pierce, FL; best friends and brothers, David Collins and Michael Collins of Fort Pierce, FL; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Public visitation for Sheppard Powell, Jr. will take place on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
