Sheree Lynn Custis, 66, of Greencastle, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at home with her husband by her side. She was born in Greencastle on September 9, 1957, to the late Lloyd and Wanda (Buis) Grimes. Sheree graduated from Greencastle High School in 1975. She married the love of her life, Jack Custis, on October 21, 1983. Sheree worked for DePauw School of Music as the Faculty Secretary and Assistant to the Associate Dean for 14 years, before retiring in 2017. During her time at DePauw, she enjoyed being a member of the knitting club. Sheree was a longtime member of Greencastle Christian Church, actively participating in Bible Study and Grow Group.
Sheree loved having her toes in the sand. She and Jack lived in Orlando, Florida for 10 years before ultimately deciding to move their family back to Indiana. She enjoyed swimming, playing euchre, watching Hallmark, and never missed a chance to go shopping. Above all, Sheree loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren. Sheree was loved by all who came in contact with her. Her bright spirit would put a smile on your face. Her contagious laugh will be greatly missed by all her family.
In addition to her parents, Sheree is preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Bjorgaard; and brother, Randy Grimes. Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years, Jack Custis; sons, Jack Custis, Jr., Brandon Tyler Custis; daughters, Shawn-Teil Lemmink, Rachel (Andrew) McGranahan, Tara (Aaron) McCammack; sisters, Sandy (Greg) Smith, Teresa Bruce; grandchildren, Paxton, Jaxson, Ezra, Skyler, Shelby, Gabe, Taylor, Tristan; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, February 17th from 4:00P.M. to 6:00P.M in the sanctuary at Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Lane, Greencastle, Indiana 46135. Sheree’s Life Celebration® Service will begin at 6:00P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Sheree’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, envelopes will be available at the church.
