Sheri Kay Lawrence, 78, formerly of Allenton, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at Serenity Villa in Slinger. She was born on August 30, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, to Calvin and Louise Lawrence.
Sheri graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka on June 3, 1964, and went on to earn her nursing certification from the Topeka Public School of Practical Nursing on January 31, 1966. It was then she officially began what would become a remarkable 40-plus year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Sheri's nursing journey took her to Hartford Memorial Hospital in OB, private duty nursing, Cedar Lake Nursing Home, Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation, and finally, to hospice care with Heartland Hospice. Being a nurse was never just a job to her, it was her calling. She had a heart for service and hands that brought comfort to countless lives. Nursing was not only what she did; it was who she was. Her compassion, skill, and quiet strength left an indelible mark on all those she cared for. Sheri was deeply proud of her work, and we were, and always will be, endlessly proud of her.
Sheri was fiercely strong-willed and independent, and the beloved and cherished mom of Jeanette Howerton, Calvin Lawrence, and Anita Olson. She was a special mother-in-law to Lori Lawrence and James Olson, and a devoted and very proud grandmother of Caleb Lawrence, Esther Lawrence, Opal Lawrence, Violet Lawrence, Jacob Olson, Abigale Olson, Olivia Olson, and Aydan Olson.
Sheri loved baking, knitting, counted cross-stitch, gardening, swimming and picnics at Pike Lake, and family trips to Blue Lake Resort in Minocqua. She cherished time spent with her four-legged fur babies, especially Maggie, Murphy, Wilbur and her Higgins.
Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Louise Lawrence and her grandparents Arthur and Opal Lawrence and Cecil and Ethel Haley and her Aunt, Loma Ashcraft.
Sheri is survived by a sister, Tammie Lawrence, her cousins David, Dennis and Douglas Ashcraft, all of Kansas, and many friends and family.
Funeral Services for Sheri will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 200 E. Washington Street, Slinger with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with Mass at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Father Richard Stoffel officiating. Cremation will follow.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her Froedtert Healthcare team, Dr. Gary Herdrich, Ashley Linsmeier, and her favorite medical assistant, Christina, for their exceptional and unwavering care. To her Community Care team, Sue and Michelle, thank you for your dedicated service and support over the past four years. To her Serenity Villa family, we are deeply grateful for the love and kindness shown to Mom over the last two and a half years. And finally, to her Preceptor Hospice team, Peyton, Nicole, Amanda, Morgan, Kim, Sheri, Brittany, and Chaplain Rich, thank you for the tender care, compassion, and understanding you provided. We are forever thankful.
