Sheridan Harley Dockery, age 79 of Murphy, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
Sheridan was born in Cherokee County to the late Lewis Arthur and Ruby Ellen Sneed Dockery. He had worked as a construction worker and a diesel mechanic. Sheridan enjoyed riding horses, farming and working on vehicles. There was not an animal that he did not love.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother, Stanley Dockery and brothers William Horace Dockery and Gene Alvin Dockery; a sister Stella Ellen Dockery Jones; and a grandson, Michael Ray McDonald.
Sheridan is survived by his spouse of 59 years, Patsy Rogers Dockery of Murphy; his daughters, Rebecca Dockery McDonald (Ben) and Tammy Dockery Kirby (Joe Brown); his brother, Arnold Dockery of Cumming, Georgia; a sister, Grace Dockery Cook of Murphy; his grandsons, Jonathan Arthur McDonald of Murphy and Jeremy Daniel Kirby of Hayesville; a great granddaughter, Elynor Alice McDonald; two great grandsons, Jacob Bentley McDonald and Deacon Ray McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Dr. Eddis Dockery and Rev. Kenneth Dockery will officiate. An inurnment will be held at a later date at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy prior to the funeral service.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
