Sherill Ray Reus, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2025, in San Antonio at the age of 85. He was born on June 29, 1940, in Castroville to Rudolph and Lenora Halty Reus.
Known as Butch by family members and local residents, he grew up on the family farm in La Coste.
Butch married Karen Lee Eggen of Hondo on June 12, 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years; son, Todd (Denise); son-in-law, Ruben; grandchildren, Julian (Karen) Arredondo, Riley Arredondo, Maci Gunderman, Aaden Reus, and Addison Reus; brother, Robert (Rita); sister-in-law, Sally Reus; two nieces, four nephews, three great nieces, and numerous cousins.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Lenora Halty Reus; brothers, Malcolm and Rodney Reus; daughter, Tracey Reus Arredondo; sister-in-law, Anna Beth Eggen Wynne; and niece, Cindy Reus.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville, Texas. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, in Hondo, Texas.
