Sherlyn Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by K.L. Brown Memory Chapel - Anniston on Mar. 27, 2026.
Sherlyn Green Jackson was born September 4, 1947, in Talladega, Alabama and died on March 26, 2026, at the age of 78, at her home.

Sherlyn graduated from Talladega High School in 1965 where she was the Homecoming Queen, varsity cheerleader, and class historian. In 1968, Sherlyn graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Birmingham.

She and her husband, Bill, were married in 1968 and moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where Bill attended law school and Sherlyn worked as a Registered Nurse, first in the E.R. at Druid City Hospital and then in ICU. Later she worked in Acute Dialysis which lead to her love of Nephrology nursing and dialysis. For the last years of her nursing career, she was the administrator for Northeast Alabama Kidney Clinic and Nephrology and Hypertension Consultants.

Sherlyn was a member of the American Nurses Association , the Alabama Board of Nursing, the National Renal Administrators Association, and the Certified Nephrology Nurses Association.

She was very proud to be one of the first Registered Nurses in Alabama to be certified in Nephrology Nursing, earning the title of CNN. She was also an encouragement to others to follow her certification.

She was a member of the Revelers Krew and the Maskers Club, having served as president of both. She was also a member of the Algonquin Study Club.

Sherlyn was involved in numerous aspects of Anniston government. She was a 1990 graduate of Leadership Calhoun County, the Women's Executive Committee (WEN), and Women Empowered (WE).

Bill and Sherlyn had been members of Anniston First United Methodist Church since 1974 and were actively involved in every aspect of the church. She served on the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees, and the Mission Board. She was also a member of United Methodist Women (UMW0 and a long time member of Prayer Warriors. She and Bill served as youth counselors when their children were in the youth department. They were also member of the Grove Fellowship Sunday School class where they gained many friendships for over 50 years. They were especially proud of their leadership in the AIM (Aide to Inmate Mothers) program, which transported children to Montgomery once a month to visit their incarcerated mothers.

Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Riggleman Green and Walter Byron Green, and a sister, Nancy Melissa Green, and a daughter-in-law, Amy Nixon Jackson.
