Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, LLCIn Loving Memory of Sherman “Scott” Smith
September 7, 1966 – February 14, 2026
Scott Smith, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son and sibling, and dear friend to many, peacefully passed away on February 14, 2026. He lived a life defined by strength, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Scott was an exceptionally talented and capable man who never met a challenge he couldn’t solve. Whether it was working as a skilled truck driver, tow truck operator, heavy duty body work expert, carpenter, or mechanic, Scott approached every task with pride, precision, unbelievable knowledge, and determination. His leadership and heart were evident through his service as a former Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, where he served with honor, pride, and dedication.
Above all, Scott was a family man. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cat Smith, a proud father to his children Amanda Baker, Justin Smith, Zachary Smith, Shelby Smith, and Dakota Smith. He found enormous joy in his grandchildren, who knew him as a loving and proud grandfather. Scott’s family was his world. He also leaves behind his cherished mother Nancy Pennington and father Julian “Ruff” Pennington, to which he spoke to every single day. He also leaves behind his siblings. His brothers’ Gregory Smith, Randy Smith and Jason Pennington; and his sister Alison Smith Jenkins. These memories he created will live on forever in our hearts. His life touched countless others whose lives are richer for having known him,
Scott leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, loyalty, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at American Legion Post 58 in Dunnellon, Florida, on February 28, 2026, beginning at noon and continuing until all who wish to remember him have had the opportunity to share in honoring his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Smith family in any way possible
