In Loving Memory of Richard Smith
January 3, 1959- February 12, 2026
Richard lived fully and loved loudly. Golf every Sunday. Early morning fishing trips. Cheering for the Florida Gators at the top of his lungs. NASCAR on the weekends. Friends everywhere he went. He left fingerprints on everyone he met.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Stacy Smith, and proud father to Richie, David, Samantha, Chris, and Carly-his greatest joy. His grandchildren will grow up hearing stories about the loyal, competitive, big-hearted man he was.
Rich is also lovingly survived by his parents, Nancy Pennington and Julian “Ruff” Pennington; his brothers, Gregory Smith, Randy Smith, and Jason Pennington; and his sister Alison Smith Jenkins. His life touched countless others whose life are richer for having known him.
Our hearts are truly broken, but we find comfort knowing that you are reunited with the love of your life, Stacy. We will carry you with us-in every Sunday round, every cast of a line, and every Gators cheer.
Forever loved. Forever missed.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at American Legion post 58 in Dunnellon, Florida, on February 28, 2026, beginning at noon and continuing until all who wish to remember him, have had the opportunity to share in honoring his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Smith family in any way possible.
