Obituary published on Legacy.com by Plainville Funeral Home - Plainville on Dec. 30, 2025.
Sherrie (Suprenant) Monteiro, 66, of Bristol, passed away peacefully, with her devoted husband of 41 years, Steven, lovingly by her side.
Born in New Britain, Sherrie was raised in Southington and was one of three children of the late Raymond and Joyce (Pons) Suprenant. From an early age, she was known for her kind heart, warm spirit, and strong sense of devotion to those she loved.
Sherrie was a proud graduate of Southington High School and went on to build a successful and deeply fulfilling career at Travelers Insurance, where she dedicated more than 40 years of service. She rose to the role of Director of Major Case Subrogation, a position that reflected her intelligence, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Sherrie truly loved her work and valued the relationships she built throughout her career. Many of her coworkers became lifelong friends, bonded by shared experiences, mutual respect, and countless memories. Her professionalism, loyalty, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. Inside and outside of work Sherrie was the " problem solver." Everyone knew if you needed it done, go to Sherrie!
Sherrie found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved to read and had a special talent for shopping- never meeting a store she didn't like! Some of her happiest moments were spent at her vacation home in Rhode Island, where she found peace by the water and great joy in hosting family and friends. Whether floating in her pool, soaking up the sun, or simply enjoying the calm surroundings, those moments brought her comfort and happiness.
Above all else, Sherrie's family was the center of her world. She was a devoted and loving mother, and her two cherished daughters meant everything to her. She found her greatest happiness when surrounded by family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love. She also shared a special bond with her beloved four-legged companion, Max, who she now joins in eternal peace.
Sherrie will be remembered for her generous heart, her gentle strength, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of so many. Her legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her beloved husband Steven, Sherrie leaves behind her cherished daughters, Alissa and Tejal Monteiro; her sister, Jackie Cyr; her departed brother David Surprenant and her mother-in-law, Eugenia Monteiro. For the past four years, Sherrie was deeply blessed by the loving and devoted care of both her sister, Jackie, and her devoted caregiver, Myrlande Clermont. Their shared compassion, kindness, patience, and unwavering support brought comfort, dignity, and peace to Sherrie, and meant more than words can express to her and her family.
Sherrie is also survived by many extended family members, nieces and nephews and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will be forever cherished and held close in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, Sherrie may be remembered with contributions to your local animal shelter; she loved animals especially dogs.
