Sherrie J. Termolen, known lovingly as "Grammie" by her cherished granddaughters, passed away on April 19, 2024. Born in Boulder, CO on April 5, 1944, Sherrie was a woman of resilience, strength, and unyielding love. Over her 80 years, she lived in Boulder, East Lansing, East Grand Rapids, and finally found her home in Holland, Michigan, where she spent the last 20 years of her life. Sherrie devoted her life to her family, especially her three granddaughters, Kaylie, Rilee, and Ashley Hoebbel, who were the source of her greatest joy. Together, they filled their days with laughter, love, and countless memorable lunches, paint-a-pot sessions, and yearly vacations.
Sherrie was a dental assistant by profession, but her passions extended far beyond her work. She was a woman of diverse interests - a veritable kaleidoscope of hobbies and pursuits. She loved coloring, cooking, baking, traveling, and reading. Her ears delighted in the sweet rhythms of Hawaiian music, and her hands reveled in the touch of soil as she tended to her garden. Antiquing was her treasure hunt, and sharing her life with her beloved cat, George, was her comfort. Sherrie was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Holland and Evergreen Commons, and a former member of the Purple Hat Society. She held her faith dear and was an active participant in her religious community. Her courage was evident in her fight against breast cancer, not once, but twice - a testament to her remarkable spirit.
Sherrie is survived by her sons Ken and Tim Hoebbel, her daughters-in-law Renae and Debbie Hoebbel, her brother Steve Stanton, sister-in-law Amparo Vargas, step-son Rick Termolen, and her adored granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents Wellan and Jane Stanton, and her husband Richard Termolen. As we remember Sherrie, we are reminded of the verse from the Book of Proverbs, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."
A private celebration of life will be held for Sherrie at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donating to the Pancreatic Action Network, National Breast Cancer Foundation, or the Humane Society of West Michigan. Sherrie's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all those she touched. Sharon was always a happy person. I enjoyed seeing her at our family reunions. She always brought something yummy and we often shared recipes. We followed each other on Facebook almost daily. I especially enjoy her pictures of family.I was shocked to learn of her passing which was on the same day we buried my husband Terry. Rest In Peace sweet cousin!
