Wichita, Kansas - Sherrill "Sherrie" Grayston Brasted, 84, died Thursday, December 29, 2022. A private family service has been held.
Sherrill Doreen Grayston was born May 17, 1938 in Los Angeles, CA to Geoffrey and Marjorie Grayston. She attended elementary school in San Marino, CA and attended high schools in Santa Barbara, CA and the Anoakia School for Girls in Arcadia, CA. She then attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, CO, graduating with her AA degree in 1958.
She went on to become an executive secretary for John Dahl, president of Uncle John's Pancake House, and later as an executive secretary at StarKist Foods in Long Beach, CA, where she met her husband, Kenneth P. Brasted II. They were married in Pasadena, CA on October 19, 1963. They immediately moved to Pittsburg, PA, where Ken was assistant to the vice president of finance at HJ Heinz Co. They moved to Wichita, Ken's hometown, in 1964.
Sherrie has been active in the community with KPTS and the Wichita Junior League. She was also a member of the Shakespeare Club and Present Day Club.
Sherrie enjoyed traveling with Ken to numerous countries & they had many adventures together. Always chasing the sun, particularly to Palm Springs and Hawaii, where they spent many weeks a year.
Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P Brasted II, just 7 months ago; her father, Geoffrey Grayston; and mother Marjorie Grayston.
Survived by her son, Kenneth P Brasted III of Puerto Aventuras, Mexico; daughter Amy Holt (John) of North Bend, WA; and granddaughters Lindsey Brasted and Taylor Brasted.
Sherrie and Ken will be scattered in the waters off Hawaii & Mexico's Riviera Maya, very special places they both loved.
