My Mom, Sherrill Faye Spaeth, was born on 10-14-39 and grew up in Watertown, SD , just 2 weeks after my Dad was born in Fargo, ND. She traveled with her parents, Helen (Hof) and Francis Stall, between Northwestern MN, where her dad was from, and SD. She enjoyed biking, skating, dancing, and pets as a girl. She raised a baby pigeon that would ride on her shoulder as she rode her bike, fly off, and then return to her shoulder. She loved her dog Sport who would wait to walk her home from school.
She met her future husband, Warren T. Spaeth, at school in Mahnomen , MN. They married in 1961 and were married for 50 years till Dad's death in 2012. They enjoyed raising me (1964), socializing, dancing, playing cards and Scrabble, traveling to Canada, Florida, Michigan, Montana, Niagra Falls, and California. They went up to their cabin on Dead Lake and later tended gardens at home and visited friends at cabins. They enjoyed meeting friends and family to go out to eat.
Sherrill retired from working in assembly at Honeywell after 35 years. There she worked in 7 different plants, joined a bowling league, bought and created crafts through the Honeybells, decorated her workshop for each holiday, and met her close friends Dee, Jan, and Bonnie. They enjoyed going on adventures together to the casinos, out for lunch, celebrating birthdays with tea parties and presents, and laughing through it all.
In her golden years, Mom enjoyed taking care of her cats (Pepper, Tuffy, and Sweetie), watching Hallmark movies and Dancing With The Stars, thrift store shopping, and decorating for different holidays at home. She was appreciated for her greeting card upcycling and sending to the "Dear Hearts" in her life. She enjoyed creating and letting others know she was thinking of them even if she didn't get out much.
Both Dad and i enjoyed our travels and wandering. Sherrill was the fiercely devoted Momma Bear who tended this cub and her Grizzly/Teddy Bear Poppa. But most of all, Mom was our home.
