Sherrill Douglas Strider Jr. (Doug), age 63, passed away on December 12th, 2025. Doug was a cherished son, brother and devoted partner.
He was born to his parents; Sherrill Douglas Strider Sr and Dilys (Stone) Strider, on his father's birthday, June 15th, 1962 in High Point NC. The family later moved to Swanton, Vermont where Doug attended school and graduated from MVU in 1981.
He worked for his father's business for many years before moving to California in 1991. There he met the love of his life, Iva Shaw. Their 20 years together were filled with laughter, love and companionship, making memories that would last a lifetime. Iva's passing in 2020 left a profound void in Doug's life, a testament to the deep connection they shared.
Doug returned home to Vermont where he spent cherished moments with his loving mother and family. His favorite thing in the world was fishing! Whether it was ice fishing, casting from the dock, or on the open water in a boat; that was his passion. Second favorite thing after catching fish was eating them! He enjoyed a simple life, had a heart of gold and was loved very much.
Doug is survived by his mother, Dilys (Stone) Strider; his siblings, Christina Strider, Margaret Hoffman and her husband Chris, David Strider and his wife Lydia; nieces and nephews, James Grandchamp, Christy Grandchamp, Ryan Hoffman and his wife Shirly and their son Calvin and Randel Hoffman and his significant other, Sylvia Dabrowski. Doug was predeceased in 2017 by his father, Sherrill Douglas Strider Sr and in 2020 by his partner, Iva Shaw.
In respecting Doug's wishes, the family will host a private celebration of life.
