Sherry McLain Bates was born on November 27, 1949 at Columbia, Louisiana to the union of her parents, the late, James Daniel McLain and Gladys Lorraine Richmond McLain and she passed from this life tragically on December 22, 2022 from injuries received in an automobile accident. To know Sherry was to simply love her. She and her late husband Rube were respected members of the Caldwell Parish Community. She was an active member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church and loved participating in the Council on Aging trips. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious cakes she baked for her family and friends as well as the community. She loved to paint and loved her family immensely. She especially loved her beloved granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband Rube Bates. Her death leaves a void that will never be filled.
Left to cherish her memory is her son James Bates of Kelly, her daughter: Vanessa Bates (Chester) of Kelly; her brother, Danny Mc Lain (Sharon) of Columbia; her grand daughter, Alexis Ausberry of Kelly and her grand dogs, Lilo and Moka.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Murphy, Bryan Bryant, Sam Sanders, Recee Sanders, Timmy Brown and Jacob Collinson.
