Sherry Gay Dollarhide, age 68, of
Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Wednesday, April 11, 1956, to Samuel Thomas and Helen Juanita Byington Whitehead in
Idabel, Oklahoma.
Sherry, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and compassionate caregiver was a testament to love, faith, and service to others. As a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow for over 40 years, Sherry's faith was a guiding force in her life. She served as an elder on two different occasions, demonstrating her commitment and dedication to her church community.
Sherry's greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought immense happiness and pride into her life. Her loving and nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of her life, especially in her professional career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. For over 40 years, Sherry dedicated herself to caring for others, working at various Home Health Agencies across McCurtain County. Her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless individuals and families, providing comfort and support in their times of need.
In her leisure time, Sherry enjoyed the camaraderie and excitement of playing Bingo at the Senior Center and the Choctaw Center. These outings were a source of fun and fellowship for her, and where she made many lasting friendships. She also enjoyed the outdoors, time spent camping and fishing with family were a source of great joy.
Sherry's memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of love, care, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lisa McCarrell.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Danny Dollarhide of
Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two sons, Jeremy Dollarhide of
Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Nathan Dollarhide of
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two daughters and son-in-law, Jill Dollarhide and Carrie and Stevie Bohanan all of
Broken Bow, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Kelvin and Suzanne Whitehead of
Eastport, Maine; one brother in law, Clifford McCarrell of
Broken Bow, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Wyatt Dollarhide, Trent Dollarhide, Alyssa Dollarhide, Britten Dollarhide, Alexa Dollarhide, Kaylee Humphries, Hannah Walters and Timrynn Bohanan; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Pastor David Hall and Pastor Matt Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
